Imparting an understanding of and enthusiasm for evolution & ecology
Women in Science
As part of Michigan State University's Graduate Women in Science chapter,
I helped design and implement the first annual Middle School Girls Math & Science Day at MSU.
The video below describes the impact of this event on young girls and the scientific community.
Darwin Day Events
I have been actively involved in communicating evolution to the public at many Darwin Day celebrations at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Michigan State University.
My work & motivation to become a scientist were highlighted at Michigan State University Museum in an exhibit on women in science.
I developed and presented an interactive exhibit on the Science of Breakfast at the Museum of Science & Industry in Chicago with other graduate students in chemistry and engineering to show how proteins change shape when you add heat or ethanol.
I directed and taught summer science camps at the North Carolina Museum of Life and Science.
